This is a work in progress, but I wanted to share it because I like the poem. The author is Harold Asa Pickett. He went by the name Slim Acres and called himself "The Buckeye Poet."<br />

(<i>I know. I know. But I've been busy!</i>) It is the first time I've done anything with this many stitches for someone else. I made the pattern completely on my own and just added my nephew's name at the bottom with a free alphabet I found at <a href="http://www.yarntree.com/" target="_blank">yarntree.com</a>. My brother is a huge University of Tennessee fan so I tried to do a miniature version of the football field. I intentionally cropped out my nephew's name at the bottom for the sake of anonymity (and out of respect for my brother, who may not want me sharing his kid's name. I just don't know. He won't read this, but I try to be considerate.) I hope the gift goes over well. I probably won't be doing another one until after July when my program officially ends and I will (fingers crossed) start a new job!<br />
<br />
<br />
P.S. Sorry for the poor picture quality. I framed it before I even attempted to photograph it. I was so excited to have it done.<br />

Anyway, back to cross stitching a Christmas gift. At this rate I'll never finish it in time. :(Mayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07647738706427568160noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2590230992439139580.post-64577167754814153712012-11-22T01:10:00.000-05:002012-11-22T01:10:24.403-05:00Interesting FindSo I've been quite busy lately and not doing any fun hobbies. However, sometimes I remember my past endeavors and get curious about whether anyone else has looked at them or used the patterns. This is exactly what I did tonight when I found this <a href="http://www.brothers-brick.com/2012/04/04/pinky-the-brain-mosaic-a-back-to-the-future-bonus-narf/" target="_blank">Pinky and the Brain LEGO mural</a>.<br />

<br />
<br />
No credit is given for the pattern, but it looks very familiar to me:<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5YReDeBfbN52tRyPJcxfuFfQ9wlvVyq99Rk9gLDLLd-ZgLbJY9R91En-55fDFYUbdM47d9jtz12NCnwjuaR8Wbp-ycDGKTL30c9TapD0QbIhSwvW_Kkj-OT9blI49t6vHPDsmWm8MwgLn/s1600/PinkyandtheBrainPattern.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="217" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5YReDeBfbN52tRyPJcxfuFfQ9wlvVyq99Rk9gLDLLd-ZgLbJY9R91En-55fDFYUbdM47d9jtz12NCnwjuaR8Wbp-ycDGKTL30c9TapD0QbIhSwvW_Kkj-OT9blI49t6vHPDsmWm8MwgLn/s320/PinkyandtheBrainPattern.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">My Pinky and the Brain pattern!</td></tr>

<br />
I am a big fan of LEGO, but I must admit that it would have been cool to get some credit, which should be shared with <a href="http://spriters-resource.com/gameboy_advance/pinkyandthebrain/" target="_blank">The Spriters Resource</a> as well. My pattern is a simplified (fewer colors) and slightly manipulated version of their sprites. I guess my main hope is that if the guy did use my pattern that he did it purely for fun and not for profit. <br />

When I showed my mom what I had made for my grandmother, she seemed to get jealous so I've been trying to come up with a pattern related to one of her favorite things: coffee. Unfortunately, I don't think this one is quite her style, but I think it is pretty cool so I'm sharing it. All of the fonts (except one) and the coffee cup came from various free patterns online. I had to make up the bottom font because I couldn't find another one that fit.Mayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07647738706427568160noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2590230992439139580.post-4191072959838251902011-06-13T01:59:00.000-04:002011-06-13T01:59:41.871-04:00Peace<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpmo1kEaGo2JDnunBBhtApvp0n7S3JR8jNdFXRn7OwuQ6Wqk1G8BV4XJctQKiRWaF6bKicjCakhd0R9y3GzVeHT3DsJvagyoFZhB_oweUGu96TDZkdIYGqm8xQZfGn6n69InuibNwcGbcK/s1600/Peace2small.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="243" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpmo1kEaGo2JDnunBBhtApvp0n7S3JR8jNdFXRn7OwuQ6Wqk1G8BV4XJctQKiRWaF6bKicjCakhd0R9y3GzVeHT3DsJvagyoFZhB_oweUGu96TDZkdIYGqm8xQZfGn6n69InuibNwcGbcK/s320/Peace2small.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I made this recently for my grandmother. I took up cross stitching because I love all the pieces of it she did over the years that now fill up her house. She doesn't know I do this as a hobby though so I think she'll be surprised. I borrowed the dove pattern from a free one I found online and got the text from a cross stitch text generator so I can't really share the pattern since none of it is my own. I have no idea what I'm going to do next. I'm still recovering from a week spent with 10 two year old rambunctious kids at Vacation Bible School and thoroughly enjoying just laying in bed while listening to music. I do have a lot of unfinished patterns and thoughts so maybe I'll revisit one of those soon.Mayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07647738706427568160noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2590230992439139580.post-52436207816336604402011-04-07T16:54:00.001-04:002011-04-07T16:54:00.172-04:00A Little RecognitionI haven't been posting or crafting much this year, but I do have some exciting news to share. My cross stitch pieces of Pinky and the Brain were featured on <a href="http://www.craftster.org/blog/as-seen-on-tv-pinky-and-the-brain/">Craftster</a> and my Tetris magnets were featured on <a href="http://www.spritestitch.com/?p=3017">Sprite Stitch</a>. I just really like all of the colors together, which is a good thing because I used them for my Peace, Love, Pac-Man and Huzzah magnets as well.Mayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07647738706427568160noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2590230992439139580.post-75321592044141430742010-12-09T22:00:00.002-05:002010-12-09T22:00:01.808-05:00TRON<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2lbUZ3MYo9FmRkYgJK-WxSTXiWiC5ogg5N08_NB92fKrvoMDb7UgN3xh7dPrXVTUNdMno5hChI3vByrShyKV-rwruq_xQO1eUYiFITjuoRHYmY7mMc5w6VEa4qObFhSJ-qmo5oPB-nzZ-/s1600/TronLogo2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="162" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2lbUZ3MYo9FmRkYgJK-WxSTXiWiC5ogg5N08_NB92fKrvoMDb7UgN3xh7dPrXVTUNdMno5hChI3vByrShyKV-rwruq_xQO1eUYiFITjuoRHYmY7mMc5w6VEa4qObFhSJ-qmo5oPB-nzZ-/s400/TronLogo2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />

Inspired by a post at <a href="http://geekcrafts.com/howto-tetris-magnets/">Geek Crafts</a>, I started making my own set of tetris magnets a long time ago. Of course, I had to complicate things by painting each and every individual block, which took forever, but my first set is finally done!<br />

I have wanted to stitch this saying for a long time, but I could never quite figure out how to arrange the text. I had almost forgotten about it completely until a few days ago it hit me that it would make a great bookmark! I'm returning to my theme of idioms for madness/craziness. I have no font to reference this time since I came up with this one on my own. It's all backstitch, but if you wanted to, you could attempt to fill in the screws and wood with cross stitches. I just liked the look of it without it.Mayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07647738706427568160noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2590230992439139580.post-25933491051865069162010-10-21T18:45:00.004-04:002010-11-11T00:21:34.307-05:00Egad! I finally finished Pinky! I decided against doing a response to the Brain's "Are you pondering what I'm pondering?" because there were too many funny responses to pick from. I took the font from <a href="http://bloggreen.files.wordpress.com/2006/10/cachex-font.jpg">here</a>, but changed the N to my liking.<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>I'm almost finished with my Pinky cross stitch, but I wanted to share this pattern of Pinky and the Brain together first since I had to shorten Pinky for the pattern I'm doing now. <br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">Black = DMC 310</div><div style="text-align: center;">White = B5200</div><div style="text-align: center;">Dark Gray = 317</div><div style="text-align: center;">Light Gray = 415</div><div style="text-align: center;">Red (noses) = 3853</div><div style="text-align: center;">Dark Pink (ears, Brain's eyes) = 224</div><div style="text-align: center;">Light Pink (ears, hands) = 225</div><div style="text-align: center;">Blue (Pinky's eyes) = 827 </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">One note about the color for Pinky's eyes: I included the color I'm currently using, but if I had to do it over, I would pick a lighter blue. However, I am lazy so I'm just using what I have instead of making a run to town for one color.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Also, feel free to improve upon this pattern. I kept changing Pinky's ears until finally I just went with a design so I could start stitching.<br />
<br />
Edit: Pattern is adapted from video game sprites found at the <a href="http://spriters-resource.com/gameboy_advance/pinkyandthebrain/">Spriters Resource</a> so I can't take full credit for it! </div>Mayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07647738706427568160noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2590230992439139580.post-90429959195290993082010-10-12T18:00:00.004-04:002010-10-12T18:00:04.489-04:00Mad as a Hatter in a Hoop<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgl8A-FFwGpjVko8KGbRyfvW2h1YJSlRBnNPy98MPZi8kzaxgyxQ4BMsc2dwRERqUJRDUxvc63HhPtIdoZ7_qR2W-znWo1T9eS4Vtw2ZawZDqwGJxzzldAxFCR4zUo1K6McDrw4h_nxcnyS/s1600/MadHatter1small.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgl8A-FFwGpjVko8KGbRyfvW2h1YJSlRBnNPy98MPZi8kzaxgyxQ4BMsc2dwRERqUJRDUxvc63HhPtIdoZ7_qR2W-znWo1T9eS4Vtw2ZawZDqwGJxzzldAxFCR4zUo1K6McDrw4h_nxcnyS/s320/MadHatter1small.JPG" width="313" /></a></div><br />

I decided to stitch up one of my mad hatter patterns. It's the perfect size for these small hoops and the scraps of 14 ct aida I have.Mayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07647738706427568160noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2590230992439139580.post-34145102229769893662010-10-11T20:00:00.000-04:002010-11-15T18:10:28.805-05:00Mad as a Hatter<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOgUcdJVtZ4hBpCP02S1Ul-soo7KbtzwURG0fd0BGXnmyCuTONKfAmvrr95FBhX5KQEasviFxMDla8Hb5SidRDkwmoUVbdRvop2MEBT82UNvy76947hAxikzovWhok9sYM-IvdxjEp-TZy/s1600/MadHatter2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="208" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOgUcdJVtZ4hBpCP02S1Ul-soo7KbtzwURG0fd0BGXnmyCuTONKfAmvrr95FBhX5KQEasviFxMDla8Hb5SidRDkwmoUVbdRvop2MEBT82UNvy76947hAxikzovWhok9sYM-IvdxjEp-TZy/s320/MadHatter2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"></div>I'm still using the crazy theme as inspiration for my cross stitch designs. The font for this pattern was found at <a href="http://www.stitchpoint.com/eng/tool/alph/_alphabet_generator.php#">stitchpoint.com</a>. I had trouble picking just one design to share for this idea so keep reading for two variations of it.<br />
